In the mid-1800s, men across the country recognized that important aspects of a well-rounded college education were lacking at institutions of higher learning. These men highly esteemed the values of brotherhood, leadership, scholarship and service and they had the wisdom and foresight to recognize the endless benefits and fraternal bonds that could be cultivated by the creation of organizations based on these mutual goals. Thus, the illustrious college fraternity was born. 140 years ago, men here at the University of Tennessee identified closely with these ideals and created the beginning of the UT Greek Community.
Today, there are 23 IFC fraternities at the University of Tennessee, comprising over 1600 members of the Student Body. The Interfraternity Council acts as a self-governing body of all these chapters and promotes the rewarding opportunities that each chapter offers.
It is my honor to be the first to welcome you to the University Of Tennesee and our distinguished Greek Community. I would like to thank you for visiting our website and I encourage you to explore what our website has to offer. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or comments you may have.
Interfraternally,
IFC President
Josh Baxter
